Firm launches with foundational commitment to diversity and excellence
NEW YORK (September 30, 2020) – Three veteran attorneys have teamed up to build a law firm with an explicit mission to eliminate the barriers that inhibit the advancement of diverse attorneys, while solving its clients’ most significant business problems with unparalleled excellence. The firm was founded on a belief that nurturing diverse talent and delivering the highest quality legal services are two aims that complement each other.
Founding partners Patrick Bradford, Denver Edwards and Camille Varlack have held senior positions within elite law firms, law departments of multi-national corporations, and federal and state government agencies. Patrick Bradford is the first Black lawyer to be elected partner at Davis Polk. Denver Edwards, formerly served as Senior Counsel in the Enforcement Divisions of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Securities & Exchange Commission, and has held leadership roles in law firms, corporate law departments, and in Goldman Sachs & Co’s Compliance Division. Camille Varlack is the former Chief Risk Officer and Deputy Director of State Operations for the State of New York under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.
“Clients’ legal challenges are layered. We have a unique mix of talent that is well-positioned to advance our clients’ strategic business goals, protect their assets and preserve their reputations,” said Denver Edwards, the firm’s Managing Partner. Edwards added, “it is not lost on us that our profession and country are at a critical juncture where diverse members of our community continue to push for equal opportunities to compete without artificial barriers to success. We created Bradford Edwards & Varlack LLP to be a place where lawyers can practice at the highest
levels, while knowing that the diversity they bring to the firm is treasured rather than tolerated, and where they can be fully authentic. In that way, we best serve our people, our values and our clients.”
The firm will advise Fortune 500 companies, mid-market corporations, directors and officers, and high-net-worth individuals in the following areas:
- Commercial Litigation, Arbitration, & Dispute Resolution
- Insolvency & Creditors Rights
- Investigations & Government Enforcement Defense
- Financial Products Litigation

The firm’s leadership team will also include Kevin Cash, who will serve as its chief financial officer. Cash formerly served as the CFO for both Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and Baker Hostetler and as a partner with Ernst & Young, where he had 23 years of experience in various leadership roles. Given the firm’s client base in finance and capital markets, Cash will also act as an integrated member of the firm’s legal team, providing financial insights that add value to the legal advice the firm will offer.
